Towards an agreement with Rwanda
Home Secretary Priti Patel intends to sign a £120million agreement with the African country’s government that will see some asylum seekers speedily repatriated, with an obligation for Rwanda to manage the document and screening process.
The antilanding plan
Johnson explained the antilanding plan in a speech on the English coast of Kent. According to Downing Street, the situation has become unsustainable after the record number of illegal landings: On Wednesday alone, over 600 people arrived, landed on small boats and rafts on the coasts, touching a total of over 5,000 arrivals this year.
In his speech, the British Prime Minister also attacked human traffickers, noting that London could not tolerate an illegal system, stating: “Our compassion may be infinite, but our ability to help people cannot.”

UN: strongly opposed to the plan
The United Nations said it was “strong” against the UK sending asylum seekers to Rwanda.
