At least 20 dead found in northeast Ukraine

According to a regional governor, at least 20 people were found dead in civilian vehicles in northeastern Ukraine.

“The occupiers attacked civilians who tried to flee the bombing,” Kharkiv region governor Oleg Synegubov wrote on Telegram on Saturday. “There is no justification for this cruelty.” According to them, the attack took place near the city of Kupyansk. According to Synebugov, law enforcement and investigation specialists are at the scene.

Attack on civilian vehicles

On Friday, reporters from the AFP news agency saw at least 11 civilians killed in vehicles on a road in the region after Russian troops withdrew from Kupyansk. It was previously known that at least 30 people had been killed in an attack on a convoy of civilian vehicles in the southern Ukraine region of Zaporizhia. Ukrainian authorities blame Russian troops for the attack.

According to the presidential office in Kyiv, 16 Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missiles hit the vehicles. In turn, the pro-Russian authorities accused Ukraine of being responsible for the “terrorist attack”. Both sides released photos of wrecked cars and bodies beside them, which allegedly show the aftermath of the attack.
