According to the US Geological Survey, a magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck in a remote area of western Nepal on Friday, November 3, with local authorities citing injuries. “Houses were damaged and people were injured,” local administration official Suresh Sunar told AFP.
According to an initial report, there are at least 56 dead. “At least 30 people died and more than 40 were injured in Rukum West,” local police chief Namraj Bhattarai said, shortly after another local official reported 26 deaths in his area.
