At least four Western countries insist on arming Ukraine

London, June 15 (Presena Latina) Amid warnings from Russia about their counterproductive nature, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States today insisted on Ukraine’s rearmament and announced they would send more anti-aircraft systems there.

The four Western states have agreed to unite to guarantee Kiev war supplies after a counter-offensive against Russian forces apparently failed, the British Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The document appeared simultaneously in the four capitals and provides for the delivery of arms to Ukraine, where on February 24, 2022 President Vladimir Putin ordered a military operation to protect the insurgent population of the Donbass region.

For the signatories of the agreement, this means that Kiev can supply hundreds of short- and medium-range missiles and their launch systems to defend important infrastructure points and ensure the success of the counter-offensive.

The day before, the Russian President pointed out that the losses of Ukrainian troops were significant and above the average for combat operations. At least 160 tanks and around 350 armored vehicles were destroyed in less than five days of fighting.

At another point in their talks, the four countries agreed to sign deals with Kiev to produce new munitions, while Denmark stands ready to train Ukrainian pilots to operate F-16 fighter jets and other similar aircraft.

The local press recalls that at the time, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyy was demanding the delivery of fighter jets from various European powers, an option that was shelved for the time being.

The UK is Europe’s No. 1 in supplying war supplies after becoming the first country to propose sending its Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, although several of them are already described as destroyed in videos released this week by the Russian Defense Ministry appeared.
