The El Paso courthouse has been closed due to an ongoing investigation into a reported shooting that left one person dead.
Two judges at the downtown Colorado Springs courthouse reportedly told their courtrooms that court proceedings had been canceled at 10:30 a.m. for the remainder of the day after confusion occurred in the building.
It was then reported that a shooting occurred outside the El Paso courthouse.
After the shooting, someone was found dead on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound, Colorado Springs police spokesman Ira Cronin confirmed.
There are also unconfirmed reports of injuries at the scene of the accident.

The Colorado Springs Police Department announced on The media production takes place on the corner of Tejon and Vermijo. Media was scheduled to arrive from the south at 12:24 p.m.
They then posted an update at 12:36 p.m. saying, “This is not an active shooter situation.” There is no threat to the community. The courthouse will remain closed for the remainder of the day. CSPD will provide further updates as necessary.’
Many police and first responder vehicles were on scene in Colorado after the shooting was reported earlier today.
CSPD put up caution tape and screens to block the public’s view.
Tejon Street between Colorado and Vermijo remains closed due to a police investigation.
In video from outside the courthouse, police officers can be seen escorting an unidentified woman who appeared to be walking away from the scene distraught as she sobbed in distress.
Witnesses say the shooting was a domestic violence incident and confirmed that at least one person fired.
They say the courthouse was evacuated and a crime scene was set up.
According to CBS, a witness said she heard the shooting was a domestic dispute between a man and a woman.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department said two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Whether or not these injuries were caused by gunfire is currently unclear.

A gentleman who was in court at the time of the alleged shooting said they were all sent to the third floor where they waited for 15 minutes, he told KOAA News 5.
The man said it was scary – but he’s glad his family is safe.
