Belgian actor JeanClaude Van Damme immigrated to the United States in 1982 to become a movie star.
With a big dream and only a few bucks in his pocket, he faced a lot of trouble before he was recognized in the industry.
Van Damme began his career as an extra in films such as Braddock. In 1984 he had the opportunity to play a karate fighter in “Monaco Forever”.
He had his first prominent role in the 1985 feature film Retroceder Nunca, Renderse Nunca. In the storyline, Van Damme brought his first villain to life.
Two years later, after intense negotiations, he starred in The Great White Dragon, a film that became one of the biggest hits of his career.
He has also appeared in Kickboxer: Challenge the Dragon, Double Impact, Death Challenge, and countless others. The actor is currently 62 years old.

Married to Gladys Portugues, he is the father of Bianca Bree, Kristopher Van Varenberg and Nicholas Van Varenberg.
