Mister M was here again recently in the “Fantástico” 50th anniversary special. The magician is still present in the collective imagination of the Brazilian people, even more than two decades after his appearance, narrated by Cid Moreira, as part of the Sunday program in which he “exposed” his colleagues. At 67, he returns to the country that made him famous with 20 performances scheduled in São Paulo in November. And in his opinion, the country that saved him too.
Val Valentino, the real name of the man behind the mask, was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in 2019 and ultimately had to undergo surgery for the disease in Brazil. According to the Prince of Sortilegios, as he was also known, he complied with a request from his now deceased mother to be treated here for cancer.

“At one point the American doctors told me to prepare for death. In 2019, I was actually pronounced dead for three minutes. In the other dimension, I saw my mother telling me to come to Brazil. I arrived here just before “The pandemic and I couldn’t go back. The cancer got worse and I had surgery in Brazil. Thanks to the care and love of the Brazilians, I was able to recover,” explained Mr. M. in an interview with “Veja.”
