For the first time since clashes began, Israeli aircraft destroyed a residential neighborhood in the Lebanese town of Aitaroun on October 8, less than two kilometers from the border. Israeli aircraft flew over Lebanese territory from north to south and from the coast to the eastern Bekaa Valley. For the third day in a row, Israeli artillery targeted the Lebanese army by targeting a watchtower in the eastern part of the border. A UNIFIL peacekeeping observation tower was also hit.

Hezbollah In return, it used unusual firepower by bombarding four Israeli positions with heavy rockets equipped with a 300 kg explosive charge. Suicide drones were fired at an Israeli barracks more than two kilometers from the border. The belligerents exchanged dozens of rockets, missiles and grenades across a 100-kilometer front.

Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said the Israeli airstrikes represented a “new escalation” of the conflict that would lead to a “qualitative response in terms of the type of weapons used and the targets chosen.”
