Prince William and Queen Consort Camilla continue to bear the most important responsibilities of the royal family alone, which do not fall to King Charles III at this time. and Princess Kate, both of whom are in convalescence.
This afternoon it was Prince William who walked alone on the red carpet at the Bafta Awards. The 42-year-old has also been chairman of the EE British Academy Film Awards since 2010 and is therefore used to attending events at the Royal Festival Hall. And the royal couple's first participation in the Bafta ceremony dates back to 2017.
William was very smiling and affable, willing to stop and chat even with the fans crowding the runway.
In the room, Prince William was seated next to star Cate Blanchett. Also nearby are Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt, Emma Stone and Florence Pugh, looking very stylish as always.
This is the most prestigious event the prince has attended since his wife underwent abdominal surgery on January 16 and since it was revealed that his father had cancer.
The Prince's presence at today's event was only recently confirmed and no one could have said whether William would have chosen to stay at Adelaide Cottage along with his wife and three children.
Inevitably his involvement has become less frequent, but in any case he gave a speech at a charity event in London in early February to raise money for the Air Ambulance Charity of London's new fleet of helicopters.
William arrived at today's ceremony in a double-breasted black velvet tuxedo jacket. Between one awards ceremony and the next, he spoke to film and television stars, including Austin and Sex Education's Emma Mackey, as well as the event's host, Alison Hammond.
