Attack in New York, Frank James is still free world

ABC corrects shot: Frank James, the suspect in the New York subway station shooting, is not in police custody. The manhunt then continues 24 hours after the accident as Frank James, the person wanted by the NYPD for the subway shooting, is in custody. ABC reports it, citing some sources.

The 62yearold African American man is the owner of the credit card used to rent the van linked to the attack and was found a few blocks from Brooklyn’s Sunset Park station. Very little is known about James at the moment: he rented the vehicle in Philadelphia, where he has one of his residences. The other is in Wisconsin. Preliminary investigations into his social media presence have revealed “worrying” videos in which he spoke about the homelessness problem, New York and its Mayor Eric Adams. Police are merely defining James as a person of interest and not a suspect or alleged perpetrator. It’s not clear if it’s due to overcaution or because it hasn’t really been shown emphatically that he might be responsible. Cameras didn’t work at the station, so police who are offering $50,000 to anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator are forced to sift through witnesses’ videos for leads and cross paths with your information disposal .

Details of the minutes of terror and panic on the subway continue to emerge intact: the suspect was in the car when he pulled a smoke canister from his backpack. Then he put on the gas mask and started shooting. At least 33 shots were fired, then the pistol, a 9mm Glock, jammed and that would have prevented the worst. At that moment, the man, dressed like a subway attendant, ran away. A bag with the keys to the rental car, ammunition, a hatchet, firecrackers and a container of gasoline was found at the bus stop in addition to the used gun. “We were lucky, it could have been much worse,” New York Police Chief Keechant Sewell said of the 23 injured.

None of them are life threatening. Sewell then assures that the investigation will continue rigorously with hundreds of agents operating at the scene. Adams is also trying to ease tensions by ensuring his commitment to combat rampant violence, particularly on the subway, which has long been the scene of attacks of various kinds. Among the hypotheses the mayor fears are metal detectors.

Joe Biden also pledges the necessary support for the fight, which is being called to the hard fist by many quarters in the face of a violent leap at the national level.
