Attack on Gaza hospital was not carried out by Israel, says Biden

The US President is in Israel, made the statement together with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

US President Joe Biden said this Wednesday (October 18, 2023) that from what he saw, the attack on AlAhli Hospital in the Gaza Strip was not carried out by Israel. The site was bombed on Tuesday (October 17), killing at least 500 people with Israel, Hamas and Islamic Jihad accusing each other of being responsible for the attack.

Biden arrived in Israel this Wednesday morning (October 18). In a statement to reporters alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said he was “deeply saddened and outraged” by the attack. “From what I’ve seen, it looks like it was done by the other team, not you guys [Israel]. But there are a lot of people out there who aren’t sure, so we have a lot of things to deal with,” he said.

The United States is the country that has provided the most support to Israel after the Hamas attacks. The country has already sent two aircraft carriers to the region: the USS Gerald R. Ford and the USS Dwight D. Einsenhower. The dispatch of the ships could be interpreted as a signal to Iran and Hezbollah, which supports the Palestinian extremist group, to stay out.

Biden said Hamas has “committed atrocities” that make the Islamic State “seem somewhat rational.” He said: “We must also remember that Hamas does not represent the entire Palestinian people and has only brought them suffering.”

The American president emphasized that the USA would give Israel tools for selfdefense. The American president concluded his speech by saying that the courage of the Israeli people was impressive and that he was proud to be in Israel.

Netanyahu thanked the US for its “unambiguous support” since the Hamas attack on October 7. “I have seen your support every day and the depth and breadth of cooperation that we have had since the beginning, a level of cooperation that is truly unprecedented in the history of the grand alliance between our two nations,” he said.

According to Netanyahu, American support is reflected in the “commitment to providing Israel with the tools” to defend itself and in “the clear message” the US is sending to the “enemies” of Israelis.

“But most of all, Mr. President, the world sees that support and moral clarity that you have shown from the moment of the attack on Israel,” the prime minister said, adding that Biden “rightly draws a clear line between the forces of civilization and the forces of civilization.” Forces of barbarism.”
