A suicide bomber died after blowing himself up near the Interior Ministry in the Turkish capital Ankara. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made the announcement, adding that another “terrorist” involved in the attack at 9:30 a.m. local time this morning was killed.
Turkish media published a photo of a rocket launcher on the ground in the area where the explosion occurred, near the headquarters of other ministries and also the Turkish parliament, which is due to reopen today after the summer recess.
Security sources told the Middle East Eye news website that one of the two terrorists used a rifle and was involved in a firefight. One of the two officers involved was also seriously injured.
