According to the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), the two injured, aged 16 and 19, are rescued. No arrests had been announced as of Monday morning.

The meeting of a group of five young men, all under the age of 20, is said to have taken place around 11.50pm on Sunday at the intersection of boulevards Newman and Angrignon in the LaSalle district.

A disagreement may have arisen and the five youths fled in a car, but they were followed by another vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, the young man at the wheel of the pursued car lost control and crashed violently into a tree, which fell onto the roadway and obstructed traffic.

The suspects then got out of the other vehicle to attack two of the five occupants of the crashed vehicle before fleeing.

Safe exchange areas

The SPVM reminds that there are secure exchange areas for people who conduct online transactions on websites for the sale and exchange of goods to prevent fraud and other crimes.

These rooms, which are monitored by cameras and available 24/7, make it possible to meet the people with whom an online transaction has been carried out and to carry out the exchange of the property sold.

The secure communications zones are located on the premises of a variety of SPVM neighborhood police stations.
