Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday evening that his country had “gone on the offensive” and warned that “every member of Hamas is a dead man.”
A strong statement. “Every member of Hamas is a dead man,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday evening. “Hamas is Daesh and we will destroy and destroy them, just as the world destroyed Daesh,” he added during a first ceremonial joint speech with members of his war cabinet formed earlier in the day.
Benjamin Netanyahu and his opposition rival Benny Gantz announced they had agreed to form an emergency government and war cabinet for the duration of the conflict, four days after the bloody and unprecedented attack on Israel by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas.
“Destroy” Hamas.
In his statement, the Israeli prime minister clearly expressed Israel’s intention to “destroy” Hamas for the first time. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant added, declaring: “We will wipe out Hamas from the face of the earth.”
Benjamin Netanyahu also described with misty eyes the massacres carried out by Palestinian fighters in Israel.
“We saw small children being tied up and shot in the head, people being burned alive, young girls being raped and massacred, soldiers being beheaded (…). They gathered people in one place, brought tires and gasoline and burned them alive,” he said.
