— Mexican Commission for Refugee Assistance (@comar_sg) “The certificate of approval for the COMAR procedure is not a document for free passage through Mexico. “So you must remain in the state where you start your application to follow your case until its resolution,” they have explained on previous occasions.
You should know that under the Refugees, Supplementary Protection and Political Asylum Act, a refugee must meet the following requirements:
–You fled your country because your life, safety or freedom was threatened by widespread violence, foreign aggression, internal conflict or massive human rights violations.
–Has a well-founded fear of being persecuted because of his or her race, religion, nationality, gender, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.
–You are at risk or may be exposed to a situation of harassment, blackmail or violence.
That is, if you are a migrant and your life or safety is in danger upon returning to your country of origin and you want to remain in Mexico, you can request recognition of refugee status and from there COMAR will analyze your case and give a solution.
When you begin the application process, you will need to go to one of the COMAR offices. If the Commission is not officially represented, you can also go to the offices of the National Migration Institute.
