Sebov, 191st, defeated Switzerland’s Simona Waltert, 20th in qualifying and 129th in WTA rankings, in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. The meeting lasted 1 hour 33 minutes.

The Ontarian managed to break her rival’s serve three times while having eight chances to do so. On the other hand, she allowed her opponent to break her serve once.

Sebov will have quite the command in the first round of the peloton as she meets fourth seed of the tournament, France’s Caroline Garcia.

This is the first time she has managed to qualify for the main draw of a major tournament.

In doing so, Sebov joins his compatriots Bianca Andreescu, Rebecca Marino and Leylah Fernandez. Also in the men’s peloton are Félix Auger-Aliassime, Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil.
