Australia: Police officer charged with murder of TV presenter and her boyfriend

An Australian police officer was charged Friday with the double murder of a television presenter and her flight attendant boyfriend, whose two bodies have not been found, police said.

This week, blood-covered clothing was accidentally discovered in a bin in a Sydney suburb.

They allowed investigators to return to the home of a presenter known for his coverage of social events: Jesse Baird, 26 years old.

While searching his home south of Sydney, police discovered “a large amount of blood” and expressed concern for him and his partner Luke Davies, 29, a member of the Qantas cabin crew.

A projectile discovered in the presenter's house corresponds to that of a police firearm. This weapon has since been found in a safe at the police station.

The accused police officer is believed to have had a relationship with Mr Baird until recently.

He went to the police station in Bondi, the famous beach on the outskirts of Sydney, and was taken into custody.

The Australian media, which is passionately following this news, reported that the suspect was a blogger specializing in celebrities and, before joining the police, was photographed in particular next to Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus.

“Prosecution has been launched into two murder cases,” said Commissioner Danny Doherty, adding that law enforcement is now focusing on finding the bodies of the two missing men.

According to police, they were taken away in a white van and disposed of.

“It is very important that we find the bodies, not only to determine the cause of death, but also to provide answers to those left behind,” Mr Doherty said.
