Australian bachelor couple reveal a confronting sight on holiday in Bangkok – and nothing like it would have been seen a few years ago
Thailand once had one of the strictest drug policies in the world, but things are changing in the Southeast Asian country after cannabis was legalized last June.
Australian bachelor couple Jimmy Nicholson and Holly Kingston were shocked this week by the number of cannabis dispensaries and “drug coffee machines” they saw as they walked the streets of Bangkok.
Jetstar pilot Jimmy took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of one of the coffee makers he saw that offered more than just caffeine.

He posted a photo of the machine offering “cannabis herbal coffee blend” and wrote, “cannabis coffee from a machine,” followed by a smiling face.
The effects of mixing cannabis and caffeine can vary from person to person. Some may experience a depressive effect while for others it may be a stimulant.
A recent study on rats showed that mixing caffeine and low doses of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, had an effect similar to consuming higher amounts of THC alone.
However, the effects of combining cannabis and caffeine on human memory are unknown and further studies are needed.

Edible marijuana has become much more popular in Thailand since the drug was legalized, with dispensaries offering more than just your average joint.
They also sell brownies, CBD oil, CBD gummies, CBD soda, chews, and even marijuana honey.
While Jimmy was shocked to discover the cannabis coffee machine, he was also intrigued to stumble upon “the stinkiest fruit in the world,” durian.

“So Thailand is also famous for durian, a fruit that is so foul-smelling you can’t take it with you, it’s banned on planes,” he told his followers.
The reality star then showed off a piece of the fruit, sniffed it and then shoved it in the face of his fiancee Holly, who looked less than pleased.
“I’ve got my fiancee here and some durian fruit,” he added, before begging her to sniff it.

He eventually convinced her to “snack” it before putting it in his own mouth, saying, “It’s really good.”
However, Holly clearly couldn’t get the smell out of her mouth as she continued to choke after tasting it.
