Australian TV fans mock Harry Connick Jr ahead of his role as guest co-host of The Project after THIS feud with Kyle Sandilands: ‘I hope no one insults him’

Australian TV fans have mocked Harry Connick Jr ahead of his time as co-host on The Project.

A user on the Media Spy forum posted that the 56-year-old singer would be appearing as a guest performer on Wednesday night’s show, to which another user replied, “I hope no one insults him,” likely referring to an incident in Australia Variety show “Hey Hey” referenced It’s Saturday in 2009.

The incident involved a comedy troupe dressed as the Jackson Five in blackface for Hey Hey’s regular talent show segment, “Red Faces.”

The American singer was a guest judge on the show and gave the performance a grade zero, saying he would never have appeared on the show if he had known it would involve blackface.

Host Daryl Somers apologized to Harry at the end of the live segment, saying: “We may have offended you with this act and I deeply apologize on behalf of all of us.”

“Because I know that it is an insult to your compatriots to have such a blackface routine on the show, so I apologize to you.”

Harry replied, “I know it was done humorously, but we’ve spent so much time trying not to make black people look like idiots that when we see something like that we really take it to heart.”

“I feel at home here and if I had known this would be part of the show I definitely wouldn’t have done it.”

This comes after Kyle Sandilands recently revealed that his feud with Harry is still ongoing and deep-rooted.

The 52-year-old radio host admitted on a recent episode of The Kyle and Jackie O Show that he is still not a fan of the American singer.

Kyle and Jackie interviewed two actors, Olivia Swann and Todd Lasance, who are starring in the upcoming television show NCIS Sydney.

Kyle admitted that he was looking forward to the show as he is a fan of the NCIS franchise with one exception.

“I couldn’t stand New Orleans [series] “Because I hate Harry Connick Jr. But this is something completely different,” the shocking jock said, suggesting he didn’t enjoy the show because it’s set in the singer’s hometown.

Kyle later explained his position on NCIS New Orleans: “New Orleans was fine. “It was really because of the Harry Connick Jr. thing…he was never there, it was because he was from New Orleans.”

“He is fully committed. I’m super busy. “It’s not a rivalry or any drama… It’s just not as close as Meghan (Trainor) and I are,” he said

Kyle recently revealed his “feud” with the American crooner while speaking to Chron Australia.

He insisted that the rivalry between the two was real.

“It’s not nonsense.” Actually, there’s no drama. “You know, when someone just doesn’t like you, it shows?” he explained.

“Maybe it’s because he doesn’t go around praising me, which I don’t expect from him, like it’s a wink, but he’s at one end and I’m at the other.”

Kyle insisted he doesn’t “hate” the singer, but hinted they’re not close because they “can’t really spend a lot of time together.”
