Itamaraty warns against all trips to Lebanon. The Austrians are being asked to leave Lebanon. The travel warning (maximum security level 6) was justified yesterday by the security situation for foreigners in Lebanon, which is “currently extremely volatile due to the military conflicts between Hezbollah and Israel”. There are currently around 350 Austrians abroad and around 40 travelers in Lebanon registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“An escalation of the situation and an expansion of the conflict cannot be excluded,” warned a spokeswoman in statements to APA. Roadblocks and protests are expected. More and more airlines are suspending their operations to and from Beirut.
Austrians in Lebanon are strongly advised to follow the instructions of the Lebanese authorities, follow the news and report to the embassy in Beirut or register the trip with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
AUA and Lufthansa suspend flights to Israel
Lufthansa and its subsidiaries Swiss, Brussels and Austrian Airlines (AUA) no longer fly to Ben Gurion Airport due to the war in Israel. Connections to Beirut, in neighboring Lebanon, also remain suspended. Regular flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut of all Lufthansa Group companies remained suspended until October 31 for security reasons, the company announced in Frankfurt.
