Avon is cutting 18 jobs at its Pointe-Claire center

Avon Canada will lay off 18 employees at its Pointe-Claire center within a month as it restructures its direct sales operations with the United States.

When asked by Le Journal, the cosmetics company did not want to confirm the number of employees affected, but the number 18 appears in the termination notice.

“The Avon Company remains committed to the success of its operations in North America, and this alignment will ultimately allow us to better serve our agents and customers in both markets,” Elizabeth Munro, spokeswoman for the New York company founded in 1886.

In 2015, Avon had already cut hundreds of jobs at its center, according to CBC.

“Unfortunately, this restructuring will impact certain positions and result in a reduction in the overall workforce. We value the contribution of our employees and will support those affected during this transition period,” continued Elizabeth Munro about the new wave of layoffs.

Despite the job cuts, Avon plans to continue investing in the US and Canada to explore “new growth avenues”.
