Azerbaijan angered by French support for Armenia

France has announced deliveries of military equipment without specifying which ones.

Without being able to defend Armenia, France infuriated Azerbaijan. The day after Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna announced the delivery of military equipment to Yerevan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev canceled his scheduled participation on Wednesday in a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian organized in Spain, in the presence of French and German officials as well as the President of the European Council, Charles Michel. Baku denounced “an anti-Azerbaijani atmosphere” in order to eliminate it. The French statements are not the only ones being targeted. But by pointing out arms deliveries, Paris went beyond European warnings.

“France has agreed to conclude future contracts with Armenia that will allow the supply of military equipment to Armenia so that the country can ensure its defense,” Catherine Colonna said on Tuesday evening while in Yerevan. A few days after the offensive…
