Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds has revealed he was ‘honoured’ to be asked to perform America The Beautiful as part of the Super Bowl LVII pre-show in February.
The Grammy-winning singer, producer and musician, 63, told TMZ he never dreamed of being able to take part in the preparations for the big game day on Feb. 12.
“It’s safe to say I never saw that coming,” he claimed. “I’m honored to have received the call.”

Sharing a poster announcing his appearance on social media, the platinum-selling artist wrote, “Really excited and honored to perform America the Beautiful at Super Bowl LVII and to be a part of this pre-game lineup.”
The hitmaker, who has been making music for more than four decades, admitted he was nervous performing in front of a global audience.

“I’ll be totally confused. As much as I’ll try to be comfortable with it, I know I’ll be nervous because you’re thinking about how many people you’re actually performing for and what that moment means.
Country singer Chris Stapleton will sing the national anthem, which suits the R&B legend, who felt America The Beautiful suited him better.
“It’s really a beautiful song…this melody suits me much better.”

The Simple artist is excited for Rihanna’s halftime performance, saying, “Rihanna has so many hits, she’ll be fine.”
Recalling working with the Diamonds artist in the past, the Soul Train Award winner explained, “I think I had her in the studio once for a charity record called Standup for Cancer and she came in and sang and blew me away .”
And he hopes to work together in the future. ‘It would be a dream to go back there with her one day.’
