The Melbourne-based entrepreneur sold the program to myDNA, which offers customers fitness and health plans based on an analysis of their DNA results.

“I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved so far and even more excited about the future with myDNA,” Wood told news.com.au at the time.

As part of the deal, Wood became an investor in myDNA and held a five percent stake.

Since launching 28 by Sam Wood in 2016, the program has attracted more than 400,000 users and worked with companies such as Woolworths and Blackmores.

In 2018, Wood invested $1 million in the 28 by Sam Wood program to make it a larger competitor in the fitness space.

Dennis Bastas, chairman of myDNA, told AFR that 28 by Sam Wood’s bespoke app and website was a key factor in the $71 million deal.

“Sam has a large following and the platform itself offers a beautiful user experience. “Honestly, the appeal of acquiring his company from a myDNA perspective was that all the people were on board,” Bastas said.
