Before the couple got together, Garrett proposed to Becca Kufrin after the couple met on season 14 of The Bachelorette in 2018.

However, their relationship ended after Yrigoyen made some controversial comments following the murder of George Floyd.
“I’ve been pretty torn for the past week with everything that’s going on. I have listened, learned, helped, supported and grown,” he wrote on Instagram about two weeks after Floyd’s death.
“With so many friends and family in law enforcement, I couldn’t sit back and support them and the hundreds of thousands of men and women of all races who represent that thin blue line.”
He continued, “It’s important to me to recognize those who are in the gap and risk their lives every single day for people of different races and ethnicities, including those who hate them. The thin blue line represents each officer protecting protesters, property and businesses while being threatened, assaulted, shot at, shot at, hit by vehicles and other forms of brutality.
“In just one week, over 300 people were injured, shot or killed. They suffer the consequences of a crime they did not commit. They continue to work long hours away from their families and remain silent while being threatened, hated and attacked.’

It wasn’t something we could just achieve in one night,” explained Kufrin. “It wasn’t just based on an Instagram post or someone else’s opinions or comments. There’s a lot more to it than that. Every relationship has many layers, and it’s not my job to divulge details.”
She went into more detail about the split during an interview with Insider the following year.
“I thought to myself… what is important to me? What is important to him? Will we be able to build a lasting relationship for life out of our differences?’ she told the outlet. “How should we raise children? What conversations do we want to have with these children? Can I still stay in this relationship and live with myself and feel like it’s the right decision for me and my future children?’
