Back to normal for Challenge 255

Speed and truck enthusiasts will be served from Thursday to Sunday with the Challenge 255 in Baie-du-Febvre.

In addition to the 1,500 drag races featuring pickups, trucks and motorcycles throughout the weekend, fans can also take part in Show N’ Shine, an exhibition of more than 300 modified trucks crowned by a discount . The event also features an after-dark light show, which features the same trucks with all their headlights flashing.

“We’re back with a normal edition this year and we’re very happy,” said events coordinator Kaven Benoit on Tuesday. We have a great event and we hope people will be there in large numbers.

For the first time, Challenge 255 will also feature an arm wrestling competition led by Alain Goyer of the Association de bras de fer du Québec. Men who are proud of their biceps can measure their left arm on Friday and their right arm on Saturday.

The event begins Thursday with Street Drags open to the public for $30 per vehicle.

Parking spaces are available on site for those who wish to be present for more than a day. Before bed, they can catch shows by Lady Rose Band and Rouge Pompier on Friday night, followed by Capitaine Révolte the following night.

Water games and inflatable games are available for the little ones.

The event was created in 2006 by the Groupe Récréo-jeunesse, whose mission is to develop infrastructure for young people in Baie-du-Febvre and to financially support non-profit organizations in the region with leisure projects.
