Back to television: “When I’m surrounded by friends, I’m at my best,” says Pier-Luc Funk – TVA Nouvelles

Pier-Luc Funk prepares to host his friends for a series of completely crazy parties.

The actor will host festive evenings on Télé-Québec every Thursday for the next 12 weeks. The menu includes musical performances, discussions among friends and humorous skits.

“We wanted to recreate that kind of atmosphere from our CEGEP or high school days and invited people to our house when our parents were in Florida for a weekend and we had the house to ourselves,” the host described this new one Variety show, supposedly cinematic.

“There will be musical performances in the living room, skits with guests, we will play beer pong and ask each other questions. It's party talk and everything happens at home. It is several tones that mix in a variety, under the same umbrella of one and the same party,” the actor added, specifying that the creative team took up the challenge of presenting something innovative that did not exist before.

In addition, Pier-Luc Funk was approached by the production company France Beaudoin (Pamplemousse Média), which was working on the concept of a variety show taking place in a house, and was involved early in the process of creating and developing the show this year.

“This is the first time that I have been so involved in the creative process and directing a show from start to finish,” he said in an interview with QMI Agency. The actor not only contributed his ideas and helped create the various segments, but also wrote the script and edited the sketches.

These fictional plots will have a realistic tone, although certain situations will be somewhat exaggerated, warned Pier-Luc Funk, who stars in the series Les Révoltés on Club illico.

“We don’t want to go too far into the absurd or too unreal. It will be like a kind of tone in which we try to be true even if it is not possible. A bit like we did with Entre deux Drapes,” he said.

Friends galore

Pier-Luc isn't too stressed about holding the reins alone on this first variety show. The actor surrounded himself with several of his good friends, such as his former roommate and current chalet neighbor Phil Roy, Antoine Pilon, Catherine Brunet, Nathalie Simard and Bianca Gervais, who can be counted among the first guests of the season.

“The more friends I have who come, the better I feel. “When I’m surrounded by my friends, I’m at my best,” he admits.

“It gives me confidence and it's fun to have friends that you like partying with in real life, having them on a show like this,” added the host, who we can also see in LOL: Who Comes in Last laugh?

“It's been really fun so far. And the comments I've gotten are that it's really fun and you don't feel the pressure of an interview show. “It seems like we're forgetting about the cameras a little bit and just letting four people talk to each other,” he said.

The show We will pick up today will be shown on Télé-Québec on Thursday, January 11th at 9 p.m.
