Video footage has emerged of the moment Puerto Rican chart-topper Bad Bunny snatched two cell phones and threw them over a bar in the Dominican Republic.

The controversial 7-second clip shows the 28-year-old reggaeton superstar making his way through a horde of surprised customers at the lounge in the Mediterranean-style village of Altos de Chavón, in the eastern city of La Romana on Sunday.

Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, quickly grabbed a mobile device and threw it back before grabbing the second and tossing it over the crowd.

The incident came shortly after the Grammy Award-winning artist was seen in a video snatching another woman’s cell phone and throwing it into a body of water under a bridge.

The fan, who has not been identified, went to Bad Bunny to take a selfie, but the rapper seemed disturbed by the crowd following him on the bridge and lost his composure.

The woman watched her phone fly away from her while another person said in Spanish, “Wow, seriously?”

Bad Bunny took to Twitter to explain his version of events, stating that he felt disrespected for the fan holding her phone in front of his face.

“The person who approaches me to say hello, to say something to me, or just to meet me will always get my attention and respect,” he wrote. “Those who come to put a damn phone in my face, I will take it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it as such.”

Fans didn’t hold back in criticizing Bad Bunny’s behavior, while others supported the actor.

“You suck as a person,” @ColladoJccd tweeted. “You are disrespectful and inconsiderate to women. An apology is what this lady deserves, not another tweet insulting her.”

“Fame has reached you and you don’t remember being someone’s fan and the emotions they feel when they meet their idol,” @iJhonParis tweeted. “The consequences of fame are the loss of privacy and these fan interactions, but do you think you’ll be famous and have a normal life?”

Influencer Un Tal Fredo defended Bad Bunny and urged fans to respect his personal space.

“Let’s normalize the fact that artists are people and deserve to be treated with respect at all times,” he wrote. “It’s not an off-stage show, you can’t record it without their consent. Approach, say hello and ask permission.’

Another user said: “Look guys, this is easy. Respect and everything is fine. Common sense.

“Artist or not, know that we are all the same. Maybe throwing away the phone wasn’t the best idea, but do you know what it’s like to have your room hacked into 24/7? A lot of respect and love was shown to ALL of YOU.’

The weekend’s incidents follow Bad Bunny, who has established himself as the highest-grossing touring artist of 2022.

His World’s Hottest Tour — 81 shows — grossed $435.38 million, surpassing Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour, which grossed $432.3 million in 2018.

The final two shows of the tour took place in Mexico City on December 9th and 10th and left several hundred fans stranded at the front gates after being denied entry due to duplicate or canceled tickets.
