An assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley, got quite a surprise when he unlocked the door of his rented Airbnb in London and found his bed next to the toilet in the bathroom.
“The feeling of arriving at your Airbnb and realizing that the whole room is basically just a big bathroom that the host has put a bed in,” traveler David Holtz described Monday, sharing a photo dated March 11th reached millions of views on Twitter.
Pictured is a clean looking white tiled bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. The problem, however, is that the bed would have been placed right next to the bowl, presumably to save space.
“Don’t forget to lower the toilet seat for the functionality of a bedside table,” laughed one user in the comments, according to The Independent.
The publication drew a huge response, while a second likened the apartment more to a prison cell, noting that “on the good side, he still has his freedom.”
“Certainly less likely to commit a crime […] after this stay,” the traveler replied, stating in another comment that the announcement contained no comment.
The viral post also did not go unnoticed by Airbnb, which urged the traveler to message customer service.
“I have spoken to customer service several times and each time they have not been interested in helping me solve the problem. Can I expect a different result this time? he responded in a tweet.
