Almost the entire Catalan coast is on alert this Thursday, November 2nd, as strong waves are expected until at least the early evening.
The Catalan Meteorological Service announced on November 1st a strong swell and heavy swell warning for this Thursday, November 2nd, on the Costa Brava. Since 6 a.m. on Thursday morning, the Catalan coast has been at alert level 5 with level 6, i.e. a “very high” risk, especially due to the expected formation of waves that could be over 4 meters high.
All beaches affected, including the Pyrenees
The red zone is exactly between Baix-Empordà and Tarragona and the weather services are not expected to raise the alarm before 6 p.m. Furthermore, unless unforeseen climatic events occur, the same coastal area will then turn orange, representing a “high” risk.
Meanwhile, no beach on this long stretch of coast is spared, from L’Estartit (Torroella de Montgris) to San Sebastián (Barcelona) and then from Viladecans to Esquirol beach (Cambrils). “From the afternoon onwards, the north wind will prevail with strong and sometimes very strong gusts on the Costa Brava,” specifies METEOCAT.
