The BAFTA Film Awards take place at London's Royal Festival Hall, where the best films and performances of the year are chosen, according to the British Academy.
“Oppenheimer” leads the nominations with 13, followed by “Poor Things” with 11. Both are nominated for best picture, while “Oppenheimer” also received nominations for adapted screenplay, director for Christopher Nolan, supporting actress for Emily Blunt and supporting actor for Robert Downey Jr. and starring Cillian Murphy. In addition to leading actress for Emma Stone and an outstanding British film, “Poor Things” is also competing for an adapted screenplay.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” and “The Zone of Interest” follow with nine nominations. “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Holdovers” and “Maestro” are also in the running with seven nominations each.
Hosted by Doctor Who star David Tennant, Sunday night's ceremony also included a performance by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, whose song “Murder on the Dancefloor” accompanied a racy scene in Saltburn.
The winner of BAFTA's prestigious Rising Star Award will also be announced and is the only category voted on by the public. In the running this year are Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi, Mia McKenna-Bruce and Sophie Wilde.
