The British Academy TV Awards 2023 with P&O Cruises takes place on Sunday night, with some of Britain’s biggest stars arriving for the glittering ceremony at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Leading the nominations this year are heartbreaking BBC medical drama This Is Going To Hurt and gritty police series The Responder, both of which received the most nominations with six nominations each.
The Crown received five nominations, including Leading Actress and Supporting Actor, for its final series, which aired last fall.
Comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan have been confirmed as presenters, while Michelle Visage and Clara Amfo will provide red carpet coverage.
Ahead of the much-anticipated announcements, Web takes a look at the biggest nominees hoping for an award.

Among them is a Best Actor nomination for Star Ben Whishaw, and he’s up against Cillian Murphy for Peaky Blinders, Gary Oldman for Slow Horses, Taron Egerton for Black Bird, Chaske Spencer for The English and Martin Freeman compete for The Responder.
The show also garnered a Best Miniseries nomination, but will face stiff competition.

The six-part miniseries was written by former police officer Tony Schumacher. The story revolves around crisis-ridden, unconventional officer Chris, who works a series of night shifts on the job.
His character struggles professionally and personally to keep things together as his marriage falls apart while struggling with his mental health.
With Chris forced to work with his new rookie partner, Rachel (Adelayo Adedayo), both officers must learn that they must work together to survive the high pressure and non-stop environment of the night shift.
Based on the real-life experiences of former Merseyside officer and debut author Tony, the new show “holds a mirror to the emotional, heartbreaking extremes of modern policing”.
The Responder also received six nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor for Freeman, and Best Supporting Actor for Josh Finan.

The crown
MORE series! The fifth season of The Crown didn’t receive a Drama Series nomination, but it did earn a Best Actress nomination.
Ever since it debuted on Netflix in 2016, The Crown has captivated viewers with its portrayal of the history of the royal family, and the recent fifth season is no exception.
The final broadcast of the series took place in the 1990s and chronicled the failure of Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana and saw a series of scandals thrown the royal family into crisis.
The film received a Best Actress nomination for Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II and a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Salim Daw as Mohamed Al-Fayed, but was rejected for a Best Drama Series nomination.

Cornelia and Eli soon discover a shared history that must be defeated at all costs if either of them is to survive.

Slow Horses is the television adaptation of Mick Herron’s Slough House book series about a group of M15 misfits who are forgotten.
Due to their career-ending mistakes, the spies end up in the Slough House division. Jack Lowden is also part of the talented cast.
Led by former Cold Warrior Jackson Lamb (Gary) and wannabe 007 River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), the Misfits end up getting more action than the Intelligence officers at HQ.
In the international category, The Bear, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Wednesday, Oussekine, Pachinko and The White Lotus are nominated.
In the running for the leading lady, Kate Winslet goes up against Imelda Staunton, Sarah Lancashire, Billie Piper and Maxine Peake.
A total of 128 programs received nominations from a record-breaking number of television and craft entries.
