BAFTA presenters Richard E. Grant and Allison Hammond were praised by viewers after Sunday’s ceremony, branding them a “dream team.”
While actor Richard, 65, took to the main stage, This Morning’s Alison, 48, interviewed stars from behind the scenes.
The duo exuded confidence as they led the negotiations and enjoyed a giggle or two during the ceremony.
Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “What a brilliant night [they] working together so well, may it continue for a long time!’.
With another addition: ‘Dreamteam!’ And ‘[They] are always great. you are always great I love how professional, down to earth and open you are.
Presenters: BAFTA presenters Richard E. Grant and Allison Hammond were praised by viewers after Sunday’s ceremony, branding them a “dream team”.
While a fourth said: “I loved you both together” and “My main takeaway from the show this year is that Richard E Grant is a truly lovely man”.
And a sixth added: “You were excellent, great hosts, the film community seems to really sympathize with you”.
However, other viewers were less than impressed with Alison’s backstage segment, calling it “annoying” and “disconnected.”
One wrote: “Why is the Alison Hammond bit there? Is it for BBC America for commercials? It’s so disjointed #BAFTAs.’
Another chimed in: “These interviews with Alison Hammond are sucking all the energy out of the BAFTAs show. Formatting just doesn’t work. #BAFTA2023.’
A third wrote: “Oh my god. Please no more Alison Hammond. With absolutely meaningless drivel. I mean, where’s the relevant conversation about the winners so far. #BAFTA2023.’
Mehr added, “Every time it comes to those pointless mid-show chats with Alison Hammond #BAFTAs,” and “What did we do wrong to deserve those Alison Hammond segments?” #BAFTAs.’
Others concluded: “Alison Hammond segments are just dead air. I want to see the awards, not this tongue job! #BAFTA2023” and “Couldn’t do the talkative parts with Alison Hammond #BAFTAs.”

EE RISING STAR AWARD – Emma Mackey
The biggest night in British cinema returned on Sunday night when actor Richard E Grant took the helm to present the 76th EE British Academy Film Awards.
Taking place at the Royal Festival Hall, Richard, 65, was joined by Alison Hammond to host the star-studded ceremony, while film critic Ali Plum walked the red carpet with Vick Hope.
Austin Butler took home Best Actor at the awards, beating favorite Colin Farrell in shock excitement.
Impressed! Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “What a brilliant night [they] working together so well, may it continue for a long time!’
The actor fought back tears as he paid tribute to the Presley family while accepting the honor after portraying the late King Of Rock in the Baz Lurhmann biopic.
Austin thanked the entire crew and team he worked with on the film and admitted he was “just trying to take it all in” as he choked back tears upon accepting the honors.
“It means everything to me,” Butler told the ceremony, still using the Elvis stretching tone he learned for Baz Luhrmann’s film.
He also paid tribute to the Presley family, who provided insight into Elvis’ life for the biopic, adding he “hopes he made them proud”.
Cate Blanchett also won Best Actress for her performance in the biopic Tar, the film’s only major win that night.
She tearfully accepted the gong as she thanked her mother and her director, Todd Field, adding that Blanchett also said 2022 was an “extraordinary year for women.”
She added that it broke down, that women’s experience was not “monolithic” and that her role as Lydia Tar was “a dangerous and potentially career-ending endeavor.”
Netflix’s German war epic All Quiet On The Western Front was the night’s big winner with a total of seven awards, including Best Picture, while The Banshees of Inisherin was a close second with five, including Best British Film and Best Supporting Actor or Actress.
“It sucks all the energy out of the show!” However, other viewers were less than impressed with Alison’s backstage segment, calling it “annoying” and “disconnected” (pictured with Ariana DeBose).
During his opening monologue, Richard referenced Will Smith’s infamous slap in the face at last year’s Oscars, telling the audience that “no one gets slapped under my watch tonight.”
Smith stormed onto the stage during the 94th annual Academy Awards in March and punched presenter Chris Rock after the comedian made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
The actor, who shortly thereafter won the coveted Academy Award for Best Actor, was later banned from all Academy events for the next 10 years and resigned from the organization.
In a speech at the Baftas, Grant said the only slaps received on Sunday were “on the back.”
