There was an amusing exchange between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone at the 2024 British Academy Film Awards as she took the stage during Sunday's ceremony.
The star won the lead actress award for her performance in Poor Things and as she walked to the podium, Ryan winked at her.
The couple previously starred together in La La Land and Crazy, Stupid Love and were both nominated at this year's ceremony, Ryan for his performance in Barbie and Emma for Poor Things.
As she took the stage, Emma credited her mother, Krista, for believing in her dreams.
She said: “She kind of gave me this crazy idea that I could do something like that.”

The Cruella star was “in awe” of the entire team behind the surreal comedy, in which she plays a woman who is resuscitated and has a baby's brain implanted into her body.
She credited the writers for inventing the phrase “I have to hit the baby” in a memorable dinner scene and praised director Yorgos Lanthimos for “our friendship and the gift of Bella.”
The actress beat off competition from maestro star Carey Mulligan, Rye Lane's Vivian Oparah and former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino – who was nominated for her role in The Color Purple – for the win.
Oppenheimer won best film at the BAFTAs at the Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, winning in the major categories.
The epic biographical thriller led the wins with seven awards, including Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. and Best Director for Christopher Nolan. It had the most nominations with 13.
British film's biggest night returned with actor David Tennant as host and a host of guest presenters presenting awards throughout the evening.
After Oppenheimer was named Best Picture, director Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas, who also produced the blockbuster, took the stage.
Emma described her husband as “inspired and inspiring” and “brilliant”, adding that he was “often angry and always right”.

Emma also paid tribute to her 16-year-old son Magnus, saying: “Your father and I are the luckiest people in the world, but our greatest happiness is being parents to you, Flora, Oliver and Rory.”
Murphy, 47, who plays the title role in Nolan's atomic bomb saga, picked up the award at the prestigious British awards ceremony.
He triumphed against Bradley Cooper for Maestro, Colman Domingo for Rustin, Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers, Barry Keoghan for Saltburn and Teo Yoo for Past Lives.
As he accepted the trophy he said: “Oh man, holy moly, thank you so much, BAFTA.”
He paid tribute to “the most dynamic and friendly producer-director partnership in Hollywood: Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, thank you for seeing something in me that I probably didn't see in myself.”
The Irish actor told Nolan: “Thank you for always pushing me and demanding excellence because that's what you keep delivering.”
He also acknowledged his “fellow nominees and my Oppenhomies,” adding, “I know this is cliche, but I'm in awe of you.”
He said J. Robert Oppenheimer was a “colossally complex character” and added: “We have a space to discuss, question and explore these complexities, and it is a privilege to be part of this community with all of you.” .”
Downey Jr., 58, also received a BAFTA for his role as Lewis Strauss in the Hollywood blockbuster, which broke out in the 2024 awards season.
Robert admitted he had Nolan, producer Emma Thomas and lead actor Murphy to thank for the award, as well as “British influence”.
He gestured to Nolan and said, “Recently this guy suggested that I try a low-profile approach as a final attempt to revive my waning credibility.”
After accepting the gong, Emma posed backstage in high spirits
Downey Jr.'s win set a new record for the longest gap between wins of any performer, as it came 31 years after his previous BAFTA win for the 1993 film Chaplin.
The previous record was 27 years old, set in 2021 by Sir Anthony Hopkins when he won best actor for The Father, almost three decades after his win for Shadowlands in 1994.
Nolan won the BAFTA award for best director for Oppenheimer, his epic tale of the creation of the atomic bomb.
Before accepting the award from actor Hugh Grant, Nolan hugged Murphy.
Nolan joked that his brother “beat him up here” by appearing in the chorus of a production 40 years ago.
Despite numerous commercial successes such as “Inception” and “The Dark Knight”, Nolan had previously been left behind; the British-born filmmaker prevailed against Jonathan Glazer [The Zone of Interest]Justine Triet [Anatomy of a Fall]Alexander Payne [The Holdovers]Bradley Cooper [Maestro] and Andrew Haigh [All of Us Strangers].
He paid tribute to Murphy and added to the film's supporters: “Thank you for taking on something dark.”
The Director also praised the peace efforts of nuclear disarmament organizations.
Oppenheimer made it into the big name categories, closely followed by the surreal black comedy Poor Things.
Meanwhile, Da'Vine Joy Randolph was crowned winner in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in The Holdovers, continuing her path to Oscar glory.
“The Zone Of Interest” from director Jonathan Glazer and producer James Wilson won the BAFTA for outstanding British film.
Wilson told the audience that they were “amazed” that the film won three awards during the ceremony, and while it was filmed in Poland, the team that made it was drawn from Britain.
The evening began with the French legal drama “Anatomy Of A Fall,” which won the Original Screenplay Prize after its Cannes premiere in May.
Accepting the award, co-writer and director Justine Triet said: “The last time I was in London, a woman said to me, 'After I saw your film, I called my ex and told him to get lost watch the movie to understand why I broke up with him.”
“Someone else asked, 'Did you put a microphone in my kitchen?'”
Gesturing at her co-author and partner Arthur Harari, Triet said: “I want to make a statement tonight: it's a work of fiction and we're doing reasonably well.”
Harari referenced the plot of the courtroom drama when he joked that he was recently near a window in an attic.
He added: “I want to have this room as a witness in case something happens to me. I loved insulating the attic and I'm very happy tonight.”
Next, the black comedy Poor Things won the BAFTA for special visual effects.
Subsequently, the drama film “Earth Mama” was honored with the BAFTA Award for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, presented by David Beckham.
The director received the award alongside Irish producers Shirley O'Connor and Medb Riordan.
“The Zone Of Interest” won the BAFTA for a film not in the English language.
Comedy American Fiction won Best Adapted Screenplay at the Bafta Film Awards.
Composer Ludwig Goransson won the BAFTA for original music for the epic biopic Oppenheimer, while Johnnie Burn and Tarn Willers won best sound for the Holocaust film The Zone Of Interest.
The Bafta Prize for Production Design went to Shona Heath, James Price and Zsuzsa Mihalek for the surreal comedy Poor Things about a woman who is revived and starts a new life.
It was previously announced that the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema will go to programmer and archivist June Givanni, founder of the Pan African Film Archive, who accepted the award from Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh during the ceremony.
Northern Irish actor James Martin, from the Oscar-winning film An Irish Goodbye, presented Yasmin Afifi and Elizabeth Rufai with the British short film Bafta for Jellyfish And Lobster, a story about care home residents.
Samantha Morton received the BAFTA grant from producer David Heyman, with whom she worked on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The BAFTA Rising Star Award was won by Mia Mckenna-Bruce following a public vote.
