Baldness: This bad eating habit would promote hair loss

Here’s a warning that men are probably particularly susceptible to. In addition to promoting obesity and the occurrence of tooth decay, the excessive consumption of sugary drinks could also favor the occurrence of… hair loss! At least that’s what a recent study in China confirms.

We pay attention to it from the twentieth year of its existence. Every loss of wick becomes a fear and some people do not hesitate to take off their hats as a precaution. You guessed it: it’s balding! This capillary phenomenon, also called androgenetic alopecia, mainly affects men.

Generally hereditary, it can also be linked to stress and/or an unhealthy lifestyle. Some men dread it so much that barbers have a blast building a thriving hair implant business. But before you leave your savings there, maybe you can start with a healthy gesture: curb your soda consumption.

Foods to strengthen your hair mass

Indeed, a recent study conducted in China by researchers from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and published in Nutrients journal in late 2022, suggests a possible link between excessive consumption of sugary beverages and the early onset of hair loss. In particular, the latter found that people who drink several sugary beverages (including sodas, as well as fruit juices and industrial iced teas) per week have a higher risk of losing their hair.

To reach these conclusions, the study authors recruited 1,951 participants between the ages of 18 and 45 (only 1,082 people were included in the final analysis). They answered questions about their eating habits and hair health. “The emphasis that the consumption of sugary beverages could negatively affect appearance could attract the attention of the young population and encourage a reduction in consumption,” the authors hope.

However, the small size of the study sample and the lack of research on this specific topic do not yet confirm the existence of an association between regular consumption of soda and the risk of early balding. For those who are concerned about white hair due to the possible occurrence of hair loss, know that there are natural solutions to maintain hair mass. For example, you can eat more broccoli and cauliflower. These foods contain sulforaphane, an organic compound known to curb hair loss.
