The work by Banksy, showing a woman in a nightgown and a gas mask holding a fire extinguisher, was found detached from the wall of a bombed-out building on the outskirts of Kyiv on Friday December 2nd. The news was reported by the Ukrainian capital’s police, who also added that they had identified themselves eight people as potentially involved and initiated a preliminary investigation into the affair. “A group of people tried to steal a Banksy mural. They detached the work from the wall of a house destroyed by the Russians,” said the governor of the Kyiv region. Oleksiy Kuleba, in a post on Telegram. “The work is in good condition and is now in the hands of the authorities,” he added. The police chief of Kyiv, Andriy Nebitovstated – further – that those responsible are «between the ages of 27 hey 60 years old and live in Kyiv and Cherkassy, a city about 200 km south-east of the capital.
