According to one source, Barbie will be Warner Bros.’s highest-grossing film today in more than 36 markets around the world. Barbie even surpassed Joker to become the third-biggest WB title internationally. Markets that have brought Barbie to this point include the UK & Ireland, Poland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Brazil.
Barbie is also the biggest Hollywood film in Europe this summer, and with only 75 total markets, of which it tops 36, shows the power and popularity of Mattel’s most popular doll. With gross box office earnings of $1.34 billion to date, the film was also named the greatest Hollywood film of all time in parts of Europe and South America.

Given the success of Barbie, Mattel is considering putting together an entire series of films centered around its most popular toys. The car line is said to be one of the potential picks hot tyres featuring a film by Star Trek and Star Wars director JJ Abrams. Other Mattel toy films reportedly in the works will include View Master, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Polly Pocket and Magic 8 Ball.
