After Barbie director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were banned from the Oscars, Hollywood took to social media to share their reactions.

John Stamos paired his wife Caitlin McHugh with the voices of Robbie's Barbie and Ryan Gosling's Ken in a scene from the film in a funny video he shared on Instagram.

“This goes to Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who created a film that was both a critical success and a cultural phenomenon by exploring feminist themes and challenging patriarchal norms through the lens of Barbie,” Stamos captioned it Video. “Not only was this film well received, but it also grossed OVER a billion dollars. But ironically, both women were snubbed by the academy. Everyone watch Barbie again tonight.”

Simu Liu, who was a Ken in the Barbie movie, expressed his thoughts on Gerwig and Robbie's snub.

“The small participation allowed me to see how hard Greta and Margot had to fight to create Barbie and how flawlessly they did it,” he posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Together they created a movement, touched the world and reinvigorated cinema. You deserve everything. They ARE everything.”

Michelle Yeoh made an appearance on the Today show where she was asked about the snub.

“You know, joy and disappointment seem to go hand in hand,” Yeoh said. “For us it’s just that there aren’t enough nominations.”

She continued: “The only mindset is that it's so competitive out there and there's no guarantee because you're not the only voter, you know? It is widespread. Thank goodness the film was nominated for Best Picture. But you think, 'How do you get nominated for Best Picture but not Best Director and not Best Actress?'”

Although Gerwig and Robbie were not nominated in the Best Director and Best Actress categories, respectively, as one of the film's producers, they received nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for Gerwig and Best Picture for Robbie.

“It happens and I'm sorry it happened to them because it's obviously one of the most successful and popular films. Look at the box office,” Yeoh added.
