Barbra Streisand should get this Screen Actors Guild 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The 81-year-old actress will be honored with the 2024 SAG Lifetime Achievement Award at the 30th annual SAG Awards in February. “Ever since I was a young girl sitting in the Loew's Kings Theater in Brooklyn, I dreamed of being one of those actresses I saw on the screen,” she said in a statement. Movies were a portal to a world I could only imagine. Although I was an unlikely candidate, my dream came true. »
The star added: “This award is particularly important to me because it comes from my fellow actors who I admire so much.” »
According to a press release, the award is given to actors who demonstrate the “best ideals of the acting profession” and the Funny Girl star is “one of the greatest entertainers of all time.”
Barbra Streisand will be the 59th recipient of this prestigious award, joining stars such as Sally Field, Helen Mirren, Robert De Niro, Alan Alda and Morgan Freeman.
In a new statement, SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher called the A Star Is Born actress “an icon and an unparalleled talent, a force of nature who has seamlessly woven her brilliance into the fabric of our industry.”
She continued, “From her early days captivating audiences on Broadway to her unforgettable roles in cinema classics such as Funny Girl, Our Best Years and A Star Is Born, Barbra's ability to portray her characters is to enliven with authenticity, simply extraordinary.” »
The 2024 SAG Awards will air live on Netflix on February 24th.
