The castle in question is located in the Shetland archipelago in Scotland and is being sold for the bargain price of 189,000 reais, attracting the attention of prospective buyers. The selling price is well below the average selling price of an ordinary house in Scotland, let alone a castle.
However, it is worth highlighting that, in addition to the purchase, the cost of renovating the castle is estimated at 75 million reais, which could complicate the sale.
Castle Brough Lodge on Fetlar Island is a composite structure of castle building, towers, courtyard and garden. All this on more than 16 hectares, almost 162,000 square meters, which are considered of national importance.
The history
Built in 1820, the château was built at the request of the merchant Arthur Nicolson, who drew inspiration from his travels, particularly the architecture of the time in France, Switzerland and Italy, when building the château.
It was the home of the Nicolson family until 1980, when it was converted into a retreat after moving in 1998. It offers space for yoga and knitting classes, as well as a beautiful view of the North Sea for tourists and locals alike.
Proceeds from sales will be used to maintain these courses with the aim of attracting tourism and introducing children to local customs.
