Quebec battery industry flagship Nemaska Lithium has just changed its big boss after a reorganization, Le Journal learned.
Nemaska Lithium’s board of directors has confirmed the departure of Spiro Pippos, who was the company’s chief executive until then.
Robert Beaulieu will now lead the company as Chief Operating Officer and Steve Gartner as Vice President Finance.

Starting next summer, Nemaska Lithium will start building its projects. If all goes well, these should be completed in early 2026 with the commissioning of the Bécancour plant.
“This is a new phase of development that requires specific expertise and to ensure the success of this transition, senior management changes have been made to the Company,” said Robert Beaulieu, Nemaska Lithium’s new chief executive officer of operations, in a statement sent the journal.
“Therefore, priority will be given to the execution of the construction projects of the Whabouchi mine and Bécancour, in particular by further integrating the expertise of our shareholder Livent into the lithium production,” he added.
Last June, Quebec and Livent each invested $80 million in Nemaska Lithium share capital to relaunch the project to build a mine in North-Québec and a lithium processing plant at Bécancour in Centre-du-Québec start.
