“Given the questions surrounding the project and the singers, Bauducco has decided to cancel the campaign and will continue to speak to the artists involved, to whom it expresses its absolute respect and admiration. With new opportunities, the brand will once again celebrate its iconic color and message of unity.”

The brand claimed that the aim of the campaign was to “celebrate the characteristic yellow of its visual identity (…) and, moreover, unite concepts that have also been propagated historically: family, union.” Regarding the similarity of the project’s typography, Bauducco claimed that it is already used by the brand on packaging and social media.

“The choice of singers Juliette and Duda Beat reflected the purpose of the campaign: they are two artists who already had a friendship and form a “family” based on affection, affinity and art. It is important to highlight that the singers’ participation was limited to the interpretation of the theme song and had no connection to the creation of the campaign,” he added.

“Magia Amarela” was released last Tuesday evening, the 17th. It immediately became the subject of controversy on social media and was accused of plagiarism.

The single’s similarity to YellowAlbum and audiovisual project by Emicidebecame the topic of the night. Evandro Fioti claimed the work was “conceptually stolen.” On the morning of this Wednesday the 18th, Juliette’s team announced that the track was part of an advertising campaign.

Hours later, Duda Beat and his team also spoke up. The singer claims that she was not involved in the song’s art and was only hired by the brand as one of the song’s performers.

“From the first contact between the agency and the artist’s office, still in the negotiation phase, within the campaign the name Felipe Vassão (one of the authors of the music project and the song AmarElo) was mentioned as the author of the commercial track (which did not yet exist and which didn’t even have the name Yellow Magic). According to Duda’s team, they were not warned about the exclusion of Vassão’s name from the project’s authorship.

The singer deleted the statement a few minutes after it was published, but has not yet made any further official statement.

Vassão was quoted in Duda’s statement and posted very briefly about the case on his social networks. “I have nothing to do with the new song Magia Amarela by Juliette and Duda Beat,” he wrote.

On his social networks, Evandro commented that the advertising executives had contacted the Emicida team. “This brand negotiated with us,” Fióti said live. “Due to scheduling, deadline and financial issues, we have not reached an agreement. The budget they had was not enough to justify the delivery we had to make.”

This Wednesday the 18th he showed on his social networks that it was a Bauducco campaign. “Do you know appropriation and everything we talk about ethics?” wrote Fióti. “So this market has very little. Without criticizing the artists I actually admire. But our legal team will work.”
