Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin have cleared up separate rumors despite uncanny similarities to Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness’ failed marriage
Baz Luhrmann and his wife Catherine Martin appear to be as strong as ever despite wild speculation about an apparent split.
The lovebirds, who celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary this year, have been under the microscope following the divorce of their friends Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness.
However, the 61-year-old director confirmed that he and the costume designer, 58, are still very much in love, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday.
Still, there are uncanny similarities between the Luhrmann and Jackman families that lead some to mistakenly believe that Baz’s marriage will be next to fail.
Hugh, 54, and his long-term love, 67, were together for 27 years before splitting shortly after their two children Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, left the nest.

The couple had also just put their $55 million New York penthouse up for sale as it appeared they were heading back to Australia.
Baz and Catherine have now been married for 26 years and have just seen their own children Lilly (20) and William (18) move out.
They’ve also listed their Gilded Age townhouse in New York City for $28 million and downsized into an “empty nest” home in Australia.

“Since the pandemic and the filming of the movie Elvis in Australia, most of our work has kept us away from our base in New York City,” Luhrmann told the New York Post’s Gimme Shelter.
“We filmed Elvis entirely on the Gold Coast in Queensland and will continue to develop shows to be filmed there.”
In June 2022, Hugh and his now-estranged wife Deborra-Lee put their $54.2 million, five-bedroom triplex overlooking the nearby Hudson River up for sale.
However, the director confirmed that he and the costume designer are still very much in love, The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday
The couple later moved from New York City to a smaller apartment in Chelsea before deciding to return to Australia before splitting up.
Hugh, who starred in Baz’s 2008 film Australia, and Deborra-Lee announced their separation after 27 years of marriage.
“We were fortunate to spend nearly three decades as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage.
“Our journey is now changing and we have decided to separate to further our individual growth,” the couple said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
Theories have been circulating that Hugh and Deborra-Lee had already started splitting up their property portfolio after putting their “dream home” on the market for rent in January.
