In the middle of the afternoon of this Thursday (01/19), the 22 participants of Big Brother Brasil 23 were surprised by the voice of Boninho, who entered the house to insult them. The reason: excessive smoking. “Cigarettes are not allowed in the house. It is also not allowed to use the cigarette in the ear. ear does not smoke,” the audio decreed.
Big Boss emphasized at the time that the production doesn’t like smokers. “So we’re going to rearrange ourselves because you smoke too much,” he said. “As always, if you smoke, it’s outside and please return the boxes that make your life easier and the cigarette just stays in the box,” he warned. And finally he decreed: “The best example you can set is to quit smoking”.
Boninho’s message was particularly addressed to the boxes of Mc Guimê, Bruna Griphao and Domitila Barros and to the popcorn of Gabriel Fop. Lexa’s husband, for example, always has a cigarette behind his ear when it’s not lit, and even received an anonymous text message from a colleague in prison: “Stop smoking.” Bruna, on the other hand, shocked viewers by demonstrating that he was a smoker , as the addiction does not match the “healthy” personality of the person presented before confinement.

Cigarettes inside and outside the home have also been discussed in the last two issues. In Issue 20, Doctor Thelma spent a good chunk of her time advising fellow Babu Santana to break his habit. At BBB 21, Fiuk, Caio and Rodolffo were seen smoking most of the time. Back then, Fábio Jr.’s son a notorious smoker revealed that he doubled the amount of cigarettes he smoked outside of confinement and also generated several memes on the internet as, despite being a compulsive smoker, he did better on resistance tests than some colleagues who were athletes and nonsmokers were Arthur.
Already in the 2022 season there was the Esquadrilha da Fumaça, formed by Douglas Silva, Pedro Scooby and Gustavo Marsengo. Back then, the sporty Scooby thought about the excess cigarettes they smoked. “Here’s a place to understand why people go to jail and start smoking cigarettes. That’s it, right? A stick. They’re leaning on the stick there,” he said inside.

An oddity is that Big Brother Brasil is currently the only reality show that allows viewers to see contestants smoking. For example, in A Fazenda, the room for smokers is located outside the headquarters in a reserved area without cameras, allowing only one person in at a time and for a limited time. It’s not possible to see cigarettes on MTV, not even on shows based on booze parties and snogging.
