Carol continued: “Hopefully it will be natural but I also have to acknowledge that I’m 60 and probably won’t be on the BBC by the time I’m 70 I would have thought.
“It’s the natural way of things… I don’t want to take the stairlift to the studio in the morning. But I love my job.”
Carol announced live on TV in May that she is engaged to her fiancé, known only as Steve.
Discussing the engagement during the interview, she said, “We’re not galloping towards it. It’s nice because the first time I got married I was young, so you’re involved in the wedding almost from the moment you get engaged.

Revealing that they proceed at their own pace, she expressed how happy she is with her relationship, describing Steve as “funny, kind, caring and romantic.”
Carol, who was married to real estate developer Jimmy Kirkwood for 18 years until they divorced in 2008, is said to have met Steve about five years ago.
Announcing her new engagement, she waved her engagement ring and told BBC breakfast presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay that they were “excited” to get married – revealing her partner who was proposed during a picnic.
“We got engaged while we were on vacation so that’s great news and we’re both thrilled,” Carol said, adding, “We went to the picnic, I had no idea.”

She continued: “The weather was lovely. We sat together and chatted, my other half was a bit nervous for some reason I didn’t know, he fumbled in his pocket and a ring came out. I actually thought he was joking, I didn’t believe him at first, but it was lovely – it was quite romantic.’
Carol has previously said that she and her partner have agreed to keep their relationship private but gushed that he’s the “best thing that’s ever happened to me”.
Carol previously spoke about her divorce in an interview with the Radio Times: “I found myself getting divorced. I started doing things and thinking, ‘I’m not going to say no, I’m going to say yes.
“I’m braver now. I’ve flown with the Red Arrows, jumped out of planes with the Red Devils.’
Following her divorce, Carol starred in Strictly Come Dancing with dance partner Pasha Kovalev in 2015 and spoke about her love life after their marriage ended.
‘I’ve been married a long time, and I got married fairly young, so it’s nice to be able to do things that I can do now, if I want to go to the theater or go out to dinner with friends, I have that freedom.’
A year after starring on the show, Carol said she was dating someone, saying: “I’m very happy with my relationship status at the moment. I’m not single. I had just started dating someone so it was fine, it didn’t matter.
