BBC releases trailer for new Agatha Christie crime thriller “Murder Is Easy” starring Morfydd Clark and Tom Riley

A new Agatha Christie crime drama, Murder Is Easy, was released by the BBC on Wednesday, starring Morfydd Clark and Tom Riley.

The crime thriller’s 30-second trailer takes time back to 1954, in Wychwood under Ashe, England.

The sleepy village’s humble residents seem to assume the recent deaths were accidents.

But the perceptive Miss Pinkerton (Penelope Wilson) doesn’t seem convinced.

In the short clip, Miss Pinkerton meets Fitzwilliam (David Jonsson) and warns him about a murderer who is wreaking havoc in the picturesque village.

After the innocent elderly woman is found dead on the way to Scotland Yard, Fitzwilliam suspects something strange is afoot.

He takes it upon himself to find the murderer before they claim a new victim, because for a certain person in Wychwood Under Ashe, murder is easy…

Insistent on finding out what exactly is going on in the strange and remote community, the protagonist doesn’t receive a particularly warm welcome.

“Are you one of those men who never knows when to leave it alone?” someone asks him,” someone asked Fitzwilliam.

On his search for the perpetrator, the retired detective meets a number of villagers along the way, including Bridget (Morfydd Clark), Major Horton (Douglas Henshall), Mrs. Pierce (Tamzin Outhwaite) and many more.

Other characters will also appear, including Mrs Humbleby (Nimra Bucha), Rose Humbleby (Phoebe Licorish) and Dr. Thomas (Mathew Baynton).

The two-part thriller was directed by Meenu Gaur and adapted by Siân Ejiwunmi-Le Berre from Christie’s novel of the same name.

Mammoth Screen was responsible for producing the show in collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited.

Mammoth Screen executive producer James Gandhi said the cryptic series will be “a thrilling ride” for viewers.

“Siân Ejiwunmi-Le Berre’s astonishing adaptation of Murder is Easy delves into the trenches at the heart of post-war English society, and we’re so lucky to have the village of Wychwood brought to life by a dream cast.

“With Meenu Gaur as the director and David Jonsson in the lead role, this promises to be an exciting ride!”

BBC Drama director Lindsay Salt added that Christie fans would “get their money’s worth” with the new crime drama.

“With an intriguing central mystery and a fantastic creative team behind the camera, it’s no surprise that this new adaptation of Agatha Christie’s classic Whodunnit has attracted a who’s who of British acting talent to bring Murder is Easy to the screen.”

Filmed in Scotland, the show will be available on BBC One, iPlayer and BritBox International from Wednesday December 27th.

The second and final episode will air the following evening.
