Dawn French looked incredible in an elaborate silver dress as she returned to the stage as the mime lady in Jack And The Beanstalk on Thursday night.

The comedian and actress, 65, attracted attention at the London Palladium when she landed her role as Jack’s mother, Dame Trott, on the hilarious new show.

The star-studded £2million production also stars Nigel Havers, Julian Clary and Alexandra Burke as the villain Mrs Blunderbores.

Dawn wowed on stage in her puffy dress, which featured a purple jewel with a lace trim and was paired with gold heeled boots.

The star added to her perfect pantomime look with a huge purple wig and blue bow as she got into the role and wowed the crowd.

The story is that The Spirit comes to the aid of Jack’s mother, Dame Trot, who must sell her cow Pat (Rob Madge) to pay off the giant’s henchman, Mrs Blunderbore (Alexandra Burke), and then help rescue King Nigel (Nigel Havers) from the giant’s castle.

Ahead of the series of shows, Dawn said, “Roll up! roll up! Lots of merriment and happiness and downright sass and cheeks will finally happen this Christmas on stage at the Palladium with a brand new panto!

“We’ve waited two years to bring you Jack and The Beanstalk and I’m absolutely thrilled to be a part of it. See you there guys!’

After two years of Pantoland, the West End’s festive fun returns to the pantomimes from 10th December to 15th January.

Producer/Director Michael Harrison said: “I’m delighted to welcome Dawn French back to our panto and can’t wait to work with Julian, Paul, Nigel and Gary on our biggest show yet!

“Jack and The Beanstalk marks the return of full-blown spectacle to our Palladium holiday season, and we’ve been working on new designs for the show for the past two years.”

In addition to Harrison, the creative team also includes choreographer Karen Bruce, set designer Mark Walters, costume designer Hugh Durrant, lighting designer Ben Cracknell and sound designer Gareth Owen. Composition and orchestration by Gary Hind.

Actress, author and comedian Dawn made her pantomime debut as Queen Dragonella in the 2018 production of Snow White at The London Palladium.

Dawn is an original member of The Comic Strip and one half of the comedy duo French and Saunders.

Her impressive career spans stage, television, film and publishing and includes the multi-award winning BBC comedy The Vicar of Dibley, Murder Most Horrid, Coraline and Death On The Nile.

Earlier this year she announced her return to the stage with her show Dawn French Is A Huge Twat.
