Alex Nevsky has no intention of turning his back on pop songs, but to mark his return to the Quebec music scene, he’s decided to spoil himself by releasing an instrumental album.
To separate the We made them believe singer from the neoclassical-inspired composer at the piano, he released this work, titled Even the Impossible Blooms, under the stage name Of Beauty.
In an interview with Le Journal, Alex Nevsky explained that ever since he was a student at the National School, he had dreamed of one day releasing a CD of instrumental music.
In 2019, before the pandemic, he decided to put the project into action after the release of the album Chemin Sauvage.
“I was disappointed to have published that. Back then, I needed to release something relevant and personal,” he says.
The imprisonment and events that forced him to temporarily put his career on hold then gave him the opportunity to hone his work.
“I had a lot of time to compose several new pieces. I’m really more in love with them, so I took them out,” says the 37-year-old artist.
A risk
Without saying the word cheater, Alex Nevsky admits he’s taking a risk by venturing down the paths of instrumental music.
“I’ve wanted to do it for a long time, but I didn’t dare because I’ve had a lot of success and it’s very risky to release something instrumental if you’re not a pianist. I have no training, I walk instinctively and with rising melodies. I claim nothing. It’s sure to be more comforting for me to be in my popular singer’s slippers.
He also assures that an album of pop songs will follow, even the impossible is blooming and that this time, unlike in the days of Chemin Sauvage, the passion for the profession has returned and will guide him.
“There will be love and inspiration and the will to do it.”

Will the De la beauté project get a sequel or is it just a bracket in his career as a popular singer? The first option seems like a strong possibility, Alex Nevsky replies.
Composing music with pictures might interest him.
“When I was very pop music, I was asked to do music for TV series. Alex McMahon and I started, but we found that it didn’t allow us to be creative. We gave up. On the other hand, I would love to make film music. It excites me a lot. Music like De la Beauté, I do that every day. I have about 200 instrumental debuts.”
