Vladimir Putin has now threatened Europeans with retaliation for their actions against the Russian group Gazprom.
“The situation in the energy sector is deteriorating,” Putin said in Moscow on Tuesday, referring to “brutal measures, including administrative pressure on our company Gazprom in some European countries” that are not in line with the market.
Putin wants to keep an eye on agricultural exports
On Monday, the German government ordered the Federal Network Agency to temporarily take control of Gazprom Germania, the former German company of the Russian gas group.
Putin called any nationalization of Russian values abroad a “double-edged sword”. Without going into details, Putin says it is necessary to keep an eye on agricultural exports to “hostile countries”. Russia is one of the biggest grain exporters in the world.
