On his way to a wedding, a Serbian man died on Sunday as a ghost driver. Now new details about the accident are emerging.
There was a terrible traffic accident on the A2 motorway in Serbia on Sunday: a gray Fiat Punto with two passengers on board was racing in the opposite direction at more than 100 km/h on the expressway. The driver of a white Hyundai was unable to get out of the way in time – and tragedy struck: the driver of the Fiat died on the spot -. The deceased’s passenger explained to local authorities how this happened.
The person who caused the accident was probably drunk
The second passenger in the Fiat involved in the accident and the driver of the second vehicle involved miraculously survived. Both were taken to a hospital. At the hospital, the driver’s companion explained that they were on their way to a wedding. Before entering the motorway, there was already a lot of “preheating”.
The late Fiat driver reportedly drank at least three beers and 0.75 liters of vodka that day. Then he would have started the fateful journey. The companion claims to have warned him immediately that he was traveling in the wrong direction, but his warnings obviously came too late.
The passenger had to leave his friend in the car that caught fire
After the head-on collision, the Fiat Punto immediately caught fire and the passenger exited the burning car through the driver’s door. However, he was no longer able to save the unconscious driver. Additional investigations, including an autopsy and vehicle inspection, must now fully clarify the fatal collision.
